# How we verify listings

Every listing comes from a state licensing agency's own public records. Nothing is added from reviews or scraped directories.

## Sources and last retrieval

* **New Jersey:** New Jersey Department of Community Affairs ([source](https://www.nj.gov/dca/codes/offices/leadhazard_abatement.shtml)), retrieved 2026-10-12.
* **New York:** US Environmental Protection Agency ([source](https://cdxocsppapps.epa.gov/ocspp-oppt-lead/firm-location-search)), retrieved 2026-10-12.
* **Massachusetts:** Commonwealth of Massachusetts (licensed private lead inspector list) ([source](https://www.mass.gov/doc/licensed-private-lead-inspector-list-0/download)), retrieved 2026-10-12.

## What we check

* The licence appears on the agency record, and the licence number and expiry date (where published) are shown on the listing with a link to the source.
* Records are grouped by firm or shared address; individuals without a published address are flagged.

## What we don't verify

* Workmanship, prices, insurance or availability.
* Contact details a pro adds later, until the claim process checks them against the licence record.
