# How to hire a lead inspector

* What is your firm certification number, and who will do the inspection (their individual credential)?
* Will you do a full inspection (surface by surface), a risk assessment, or both?
* Will you use an XRF analyzer, paint chip samples, or dust wipes?
* Will the report meet the requirements of the local rental-inspection or lead law?
* How soon will I get the written report and any lead-safe certificate?
* If hazards are found, can you do clearance testing after the repairs?
* Are you independent of the abatement contractor?
